Food is often wasted simply because we don’t know what to do with it. To help you find inspiration in meal preparation, Metro Vancouver is once again offering creative solutions to prevent food waste with “5 Ways With,” in partnership with Love Food Hate Waste Canada.
Did you know that 63 per cent of the food Canadians waste could have been eaten? Research conducted by the National Zero Waste Council found that Canadian households waste almost 2.3 million tonnes of edible food a year, costing over $20 billion. For the average Canadian household that amounts to 140 kilograms, at a cost of more than $1,300 per year.
