New United Boulevard Recycling and Waste Centre Opening Soon

Metro Vancouver residents and businesses will soon have access to a new recycling and waste centre in Coquitlam, which will serve the entire region.

The United Boulevard Recycling and Waste Centre (995 United Blvd.) replaces an existing facility that is on leased land one kilometre to the east.

The facility will be open 363 days a year and serve about 200,000 customers. It features a full-service recycling depot that is three times larger than the current depot, where customers can drop off materials for free ahead of the scales.

The recycling and waste centre was designed with commercial, municipal and small-vehicle customers in mind, providing a convenient one-stop drop for recyclables and garbage.

Users can expect:

  • reduced wait times;
  • separate queuing areas for large and small vehicles;
  • easy access to the recycling and waste disposal areas;
  • a large flexible tipping floor for increased convenience and safety; and
  • designated lanes for residential, commercial and service vehicles.

Metro Vancouver brought the values of reuse and sustainability to the construction and, once opened, the facility will play an important role in Metro Vancouver’s efforts to reduce waste and move to a circular economy.
