Construction of a new recycling and waste centre in Surrey is on schedule, and the facility is expected to be complete by the end of this year and open in early 2022.
The Central Surrey Recycling and Waste Centre will provide residents and businesses in south and central Surrey with a convenient drop-off location for recyclables and small amounts of garbage. The facility will help increase recycling, reduce illegal dumping, and reduce traffic congestion and greenhouse gas emissions by shortening travel distances.
Construction began at the 1.7-hectare site (located at 6711 154th St.) in summer 2020 and much of the transfer building structure has already taken shape. Site servicing and the foundation are now complete, and the next step is to install the steel transfer building.
