Metro Vancouver is seeking feedback on the Cleveland Dam Safety Enhancements Program.
In addition to procedural and operational changes, the program includes new public safety information signs and an interim public-facing alarm system in Capilano River Regional Park and along the Capilano River, as well as an opt-in SMS text notification service, ongoing communication and education, and additional future enhancements.
The first phase of public engagement is open until July 30. Your input will help Metro Vancouver design long-term enhancements to the system. After a draft design for a long-term system is complete, a second phase of engagement will take place in early 2022.
Here’s how you can participate in the public-engagement process:

The interim alarm system, installation of which began in late April, includes new audible and visual alarms, along with additional warning signs and a text notification system. The alarms will be activated in the event of an emergency, improving public safety, protecting the environment, and maintaining safe recreation along the Capilano River.
Don’t forget to sign up to receive SMS text and email alerts through the Cleveland Dam Notification System, which will notify subscribers when the alarm system is being tested, when there is an emergency alert, or when an emergency alert has ended.
