Introducing the Circular Cities and Regions Initiative

The Canadian Circular Cities and Regions Initiative (CCRI) is a one-year national pilot designed to share circular economy knowledge and tools with the Canadian local government sector. The initiative was developed by the National Zero Waste Council, Federation of Canadian Municipalities, Recycling Council of Alberta, and RECYC-QUÉBEC, and launched on March 8, 2021.

For the next year, the CCRI will deliver a national webinar series available to the public on innovative approaches to achieving a circular economy. It will also provide direct support, guidance and peer-to-peer exchange for 15 local governments as they take steps to become more circular.

The CCRI uses best practices to help local governments develop their own unique circular economy roadmaps. An advisory group will provide strategic advice and mentorship to the participating local governments during the process.
