COVID Washroom Map: Know Where To Go, When You Need To Go

One aspect of daily life that has been impacted by the closure of so many businesses and community facilities is the availability of public washrooms. For truck drivers providing essential collection services for garbage, organics and recycling throughout the region, this has made accessing washroom facilities a challenge.

Metro Vancouver responded to this need by creating a municipal washroom finder tool, which shows the specific locations of washrooms around the region and indicates whether they are open or closed. Since its release in mid-April, the Operation COVID Washroom Map has been viewed over 40,000 times.

The map’s use has extended beyond truck drivers and has been shared with the B.C. Trucking Association, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, Southwest Regional Provincial Regional Emergency Operations Centre and ride share and taxi associations.
