Every year billions of litres of wastewater are processed worldwide. The byproduct of this treatment is seen as waste, but a hydrothermal processing pilot project at Annacis Island Wastewater Treatment Plant converts wastewater biomass from treatment plants into biocrude oil that can be refined to a low carbon transportation fuel.
